A turn-tilt window is a window which can be opened in two ways depending on the position of the window handle. In position 1 (door handle turned through 90°) the window opens like a side-hung window. In position 2 (door handle turned through 180°) the window tilts open like a bottom hung open in window. A turn-tilt window cannot turn and tilt at the same time.

Fan-light windows are bottom hung or top hung windows which are located at an operating distance which is not easily accessible. They can be opened manually or electrically by means of a specially designed mechanism.
